Bagley Special Order Color Identification
The top section of this page shows only a few of the special order colors that were produced by Bagley's. I will add more colors whenever I acquire them. Two of the colors, the DCNOB (Dark Crayfish/no Orange on Belly) and CRHW (Crimson Red Head on White) were colors that I special ordered myself in the early 90's. Although the crimson color was used on several other red head models, I've come to believe that the DB2s and DB3s I ordered were the only ones ever made with that color variation on those particular models. I am also fairly certain that mine were the only DC (Dark Crayfish) DB2s and DB3s ever painted sans the orange belly.
Many of the colors in the Special Orders section are lures that were made exclusively for the Japanese market. Since Bagley's was a U.S. company catering mostly to U.S. clientele, by definition these lures were special orders. I've seen no evidence that these colors were made in large quantities, so I would consider most of the colors I've put in this section to be rated a 7 or better in rarity. The fact that Jim Bagley thought the Japanese market was important enough to bring back production of the Rat Fink and 007, as well as creating colors just for that country, is reason enough for me to covet the models and colors that were produced for those far away islands.
The rarity ratings for all lures in this section are marked with an asterik [*] denoting the scarcity of the color is yet to be determined.

Bagley Undocumented Color Identification
Spanning the long history of the company, there were numerous lures made that were never assigned a color code. In some cases it was because only a few were made for field testers, friends of Jim Bagley, or other plant employees. It's also likely that many colors were created at the whimsey of creative lure painters, perhaps on a Friday afternoon when Mr. Bagley was known to show up at the end of the week and have a couple of drinks with them. Not having a color code however, is no true indicator of rarity. If you come across a lure that you can't find on this website, or in Johnny Garland's book, you could post pictures on a site devoted to lure collecting, or you are welcome to email me at:
mauddib.auctions@gmail.com for my opinion.
I have given each of the undocumented colors a color code and description for my own personal reference. I do not claim that these lures should be identified by those codes, but it is necessary for the implementation of this website to have different names for each lure for cataloging purposes. Some of the colors in this section probably did have a color code, and when I determine that to be the case, I will add the lure to the A - Z, or 0 - 9 section of this website and take it out of the undocumented section.

Caution!!! Not all special orders and undocumented baits are created equal. It takes time, experience and a little dumb luck to pin down a value on the lures in this section. There are no true experts, including myself, on the values of rare Bagley lures. Always get more than one opinion before buying, or selling a Bagley in a tough color.
